Carreras and Domingo to perform in Tallinn next year

Opera singers José Carreras and Plácido Domingo will perform at Unibet Arena in Tallinn on March 12, 2027, ERR reported. Spanish soprano Sabina Puértolas will join them as a special guest, with Barcelona-born conductor David Giménez leading the concert.
Carreras, who was born in Barcelona, made his opera debut at the age of 11. His international career took off in the early 1970s, and he has performed more than 60 roles, earning particular praise for his interpretations in operas by Verdi, Puccini and Donizetti. He has appeared at leading theatres including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House in London and the Vienna State Opera.
In 1987, Carreras was diagnosed with leukaemia. After recovering, he established an international leukaemia foundation bearing his name and has since devoted much of his life outside music to supporting leukaemia research and treatment.
Domingo has built a wide-ranging career as an opera singer, conductor and artistic director. Initially known as a lyric spinto tenor, he gained particular recognition for roles including Cavaradossi in Tosca, Don José in Carmen, Canio in Pagliacci and the title role in Verdi’s Otello. He later moved towards baritone repertoire, performing in Simon Boccanegra, La traviata, Nabucco and Macbeth.
During his career, Domingo has performed more than 150 different roles and recorded more than 100 complete operas. He has also received several Grammy and Latin Grammy awards and appeared in opera films.
Puértolas made her debut as Oscar in Giuseppe Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera in 2001 under the direction of Riccardo Muti. Since then, she has performed at the Royal Opera House in London, Teatro Real in Madrid, Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and opera houses across Europe, America and Asia.
Giménez has conducted, among others, the Vienna Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic and the Orchestre de Paris.
