The mother of convicted cigarette smuggler Jevgenijus Disko must repay the state €155,400 after Lithuania’s Supreme Court ruled that a house in Vilnius was built with illegally obtained money, LRT reported.

The court issued its final ruling on November 5, finding a link between the house and Disko’s illegal activity. Prosecutors said he financed construction of the property, registered in his mother’s name, with proceeds from cigarette smuggling through Belarus. He was convicted of smuggling and storing cigarettes.

The Supreme Court also said a property declaration submitted in the case did not, by itself, prove that the income listed in it was lawful.

Prosecutors had sought the confiscation of more than €181,000, including €26,000 attributed to the value of a plot of land. They argued that Disko and his wife did not have enough official income to buy the land and build the house, and had not proved other sources of funds.

Vilnius Regional Court granted the claim in September 2025, but the Court of Appeal reduced the amount to about €155,000 after treating the land purchase as funded by lawful income. The Supreme Court has sent the dispute over the €26,000 land value back to the Court of Appeal for a new hearing.

Courts found that Disko and his wife’s spending exceeded their lawful income. Their explanations that the money came from car sales, loans and gifts were not proven, according to the earlier ruling.
