Director Triin Ruumet will premiere her production I Want to Believe at Von Krahl Theatre this week, ERR reported.
The production brings the reality relationship show Private Life to the stage. In the show, young men compete to win the heart and private life of a beautiful woman. Ruumet, who is primarily known as a film director, last directed a theatre production 13 years ago.
Ruumet said the project began after Juhan Ulfsak suggested that she direct it. She said she was interested in questions about reality and how real the world around us is, making reality television a suitable way to explore the subject.
The sound design and music were created by Frederik Mustonen, better known by his stage name Boipepperoni. He said theatre work was more experimental than his solo music, allowing him to try things that would not be possible elsewhere.
Edgar Vunš, Herman Pihlak, Karl Birnbaum and Markus Andreas Auling play the reality show contestants, who compete for the heart of Kristina Preimann’s character. Birnbaum said the process had been liberating because Ruumet gave the cast broad freedom to do almost anything that came to mind.
“Nothing can go wrong, because everything will happen as it is meant to,” Birnbaum said. He added that he hoped the production would provide a funny and enjoyable evening for everyone.
