Von Krahli Theatre’s new troupe has brought together audiences from two generations, actor Karl Birnbaum said in an interview reported by ERR. The troupe has worked at the theatre for two years, and Birnbaum said it had been warmly received by both longtime fans and younger audiences.

The theatre will celebrate its 34th anniversary this Saturday with an eight-hour performance called “Goodbye Jussike”, based on “Jussike’s Seven Friends”, the new troupe’s first production together.

The play repeatedly moves forward and then returns to the beginning. In a regular performance, the cycle starts six times. The actors said they do not know how many times it will restart during the eight-hour event, or how the performance will develop.

Actor Kristel Zimmer said the repeated starts often prompt audience members to wonder what is happening before the action begins to change. Herman Pihlak said the evening could look very different to someone arriving in its fifth hour.

The theatre will serve spa food and open the Konn Krahli spa in front of the building. Birnbaum asked visitors to bring towels, saying the performance will take place in a spa setting with a real hot tub, where the floor could become slippery.

Zimmer said the troupe had grown close over the past two years and was not looking for a more classical direction. Birnbaum said the group had come to Von Krahl to seek new forms of expression, adding that none of its current productions is like another.
