Lithuania’s State Security Department temporarily suspended its website to check for vulnerabilities in PHP code, LRT reported.
“We suspended the website ourselves in response to widely reported information about PHP code vulnerabilities around the world,” department representative Artūras Pučėta told BNS. He said the department would check for gaps, strengthen parts of the website, test it and then restore access.
Information about the vulnerability was published internationally last week. PHP is a programming language used by websites to process user input and display information.
After a warning from the National Cyber Security Centre, the Register Centre temporarily suspended almost all of its services last Wednesday. The services were restored on Monday.
National Cyber Security Centre head Antanas Aleknavičius said on Friday that no cyber incidents linked to the vulnerability had been recorded in Lithuania, but the threat level was high, at 9.5 out of 10.
