Prosecutor seeks prison sentence for Kandrotas over assault on Bartkevičius

Prosecutor Indrė Zubavičiūtė has requested a prison sentence for Antanas Kandrotas, also known by his alias Celofanas, in a case involving the assault of public figure Valdas Bartkevičius, LRT reports.

During a court hearing on Monday, the prosecutor proposed adding seven months of imprisonment to Kandrotas’ existing sentence. In June, Kandrotas was already sentenced to two and a half years in prison for financial crimes, a ruling that has since come into force.

Kandrotas-Celofanas is accused of public order violation stemming from an incident in December 2024 during a protest near the parliament. Following a verbal altercation with Bartkevičius, Kandrotas allegedly struck Bartkevičius in the face with his right hand. Kandrotas has previously denied guilt in court.

In a separate case, Kandrotas was sentenced in June 2025 to four years in prison for his involvement in the 2021 riots near the Seimas (parliament). This sentence is under appeal at the Vilnius Regional Court and has not yet taken effect.

Additionally, in February, the Vilnius City District Court found Kandrotas guilty of inciting hatred against former MP Tomas Vytautas Raskevičius based on sexual orientation, as well as public order violation, sentencing him to one year in prison. This verdict is also under appeal.

Earlier, Kandrotas announced he had left for Belarus, and as a result, he has not been imprisoned to serve his existing sentence.
