Public institution founded by wife of MP Karolis Neimantas declares bankruptcy over debts
A public institution in Klaipėda District established by Indrė Neimantė, the wife of lawmaker Karolis Neimantas, has filed for bankruptcy due to unpaid debts totaling nearly €20,000, reports Vakarų ekspresas.
The organization, named Kitas žingsnis (Next Step) and registered in Trušeliai, entered insolvency proceedings after five creditors—including Neimantė herself—approved the decision at a March 20 meeting, according to records submitted to the Centre of Registers. Attempts to negotiate a repayment plan with creditors failed.
Two of the institution’s former participants account for 85% of the total debt: Neimantė is owed over €8,000, while another former member is due €8,400. The remaining obligations are significantly smaller.
Founded in 2019, Kitas žingsnis was led by Indrė Neimantė from October 2020 until July 2025. The bankruptcy follows financial struggles after the institution ceased operations.
