Ice makes driving difficult on roads near Riga

Ice made driving difficult on main roads near Riga early on Wednesday, LSM reported, citing the state-owned Latvijas Valsts ceļi road agency.

Conditions were difficult on the Vidzeme Highway (A2) between Vangaži and Sigulda, and on the Valmiera Highway (A3) between Murjāņi and Ragana. Regional roads around Riga were also affected.

Road crews were spreading anti-skid materials on slippery stretches, with three winter maintenance vehicles deployed. Drivers were urged to allow extra time, adjust their speed to road conditions and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
