Composer and musician Raul Ojamaa says moving from supporting roles in bands to the spotlight is an interesting challenge. He spoke about the shift on the programme Hommik Anuga, ERR reported.
Ojamaa, who has released his debut album, said it felt different to write music for himself than for another artist. Writing for someone else was partly like solving a task, he said, adding that the person who approves or rejects the work is outside the process and the final responsibility does not rest with him.
Ojamaa said he sometimes wonders whether he is interesting enough to be at the front of the stage, but he enjoys making music. He has often been a supporting force in bands and projects.
His debut album, Again and Again and Again, explores how life moves forward while challenges that are not specific to one era return over time. Ojamaa said the album looks for patterns and a constant amid the noise of recurring conflicts and problems.
