PBLA hosts election debate focused on Latvian diaspora

The World Federation of Free Latvians, in cooperation with its member organisations worldwide, the Latvian Representation in the United Kingdom and Latvieši.com, is holding a debate for candidates in the 15th Saeima elections, LSM reported.

The debate is focused on issues affecting the Latvian diaspora and is taking place on Sunday at the Latvian-owned Straumēni property in the United Kingdom. It is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Latvian time.

The federation said it invited political parties that had significant public support in opinion polls conducted in June 2026 and that respect Latvia’s core values as a democratic state governed by the rule of law, national security interests and the principles set out in the Constitution.

It said it had also taken into account public assessments by Latvia’s State Security Service concerning security risks linked to the parties’ positions on Latvia’s foreign policy and national values.
