Säm makes 12 videos to turn new album into a film
Estonian musician Säm made 12 music videos in 30 days for his third album, “Paar pilve taevas,” which viewers can watch together like a feature film, he told ERR’s Ringvaade.
“I have a very good team; you can’t do this alone,” Säm said. The videos’ concepts were developed with brothers Raul and Romet Esko. Cinematographer Raul Esko said the team shared tasks and enjoyed working together.
Filming for the song “Kummitus” took place in Lohusalu. Säm described a surreal story in which he wakes on a deserted island and encounters Batman, a rabbit, a Moomin, dancing Teletubbies and other strange characters.
The weather did not favour filming, Säm said. He had already spent two hours in the sea, where he brought a piano and set it alight. He said playing behind the burning piano was deeply meaningful to him.
Säm said he had worked on the album for a year and expected the investment to reach six figures. He said he did not know whether it would pay off, but wanted to show what the album meant to him and enjoyed making art.
