Freedom Party lets residents rank candidates in five municipalities

Lithuania’s Freedom Party is inviting residents of five municipalities to help rank its candidates for the 2027 municipal council and mayoral elections, LRT reported.

Residents of Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Vilnius district and Visaginas can register as party supporters and rank candidates until November 15.

People aged 16 or older may take part if they are Lithuanian citizens or citizens of another country with a permanent residence permit in Lithuania, have declared their residence in one of the five municipalities, support the party’s policies and do not belong to another political organisation. Registration is available at simpatikai.lt.

“It is important to us that the Freedom Party’s candidate lists are ranked democratically, involving not only party members but also our voters,” party leader Vytautas Mitalas said in a statement.

In other municipalities, only Freedom Party members will rank the candidate lists.
