A temporary traffic change at the Tilta Street and Ganību dambis junction will give drivers another route around the closed section of Tvaika Street in Sarkandaugava, LSM reports.
The “No entry” sign has been removed, allowing vehicles to travel from the railway crossing towards Ganību dambis. Drivers must cross tram tracks on this route and are urged to check that it is safe and give way to trams. They should also follow road signs and expect heavier traffic in the Sarkandaugava area.
The Tvaika Street section was closed after a large fire broke out on the morning of November 2 in an unused building. The fire damaged 2,000 square metres of roofing on production buildings and a 250-square-metre production room. The road is expected to remain closed for at least a week while structural engineers assess the stability of the exterior wall and a way to remove the danger is found.
