Estonian indie band Minimal Wind and Narva metal band Pale Alison plan to bring a performance unlike anything seen before at Eesti Laul, the Estonian song contest, ERR reports. They say it will combine sincere emotion, strength and unsettling moments.

Minimal Wind member Taavi-Hans Kõlar said the bands met at Heavy Music Band Battle. He was struck by Pale Alison’s stage presence and original music, and invited them to the studio.

“Eesti Laul is a very good platform for what they do,” Kõlar said, adding that the contest’s visual element could help the two groups create something special.

Pale Alison’s Evelina Koop said the performance would be unusual. Minimal Wind’s Paula Pajusaar described the collaboration as a contrast between indie and metal.

“We tried to gauge how much heavy music we could include and still get through,” Kõlar said. “I think it worked well.”

Minimal Wind will compete at Eesti Laul for the fourth time. Pale Alison, formed by Koop and Jelizaveta Anderzhanova, has been making music for seven years.
