Armenia’s Naré won the 24th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Malta on Saturday with her song “Boo!”, earning 202 points and securing the country’s third victory, ERR reported.

Spain’s 10-year-old Lucas Paulano came second with “Cuore Bello (Te Quiero, Te Quiero)” on 184 points. France’s 12-year-old Alec placed third with “Comment tu vas?”, which received 165 points.

Young performers from 16 countries took part in this year’s contest. The 48 performers were aged between nine and 14. The event drew thousands of spectators in person and millions more watched on television or online.

The result combined votes from an international jury and an online audience, each accounting for half of the final score. Each national jury had three music industry experts and two children aged 10 to 15. Online voting took place in two rounds, and viewers in participating countries and 178 other countries and territories could vote for up to three songs.

Naré is from Armenia’s capital, Yerevan. She began singing at a young age and has taken part in musicals, television programmes and Armenian music projects. She was selected as Armenia’s representative from more than 100 candidates.

Armenia previously won Junior Eurovision in 2010 and 2021. The contest was organised by Malta’s public broadcaster PBS in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union. The host country for next year’s 25th-anniversary contest has not yet been announced. Unlike the adult Eurovision Song Contest, the winning country is not required to host the following year’s Junior Eurovision.
