Lithuania’s Central Electoral Commission found that Aleksandras Nemunaitis, leader of the Lithuania for All party, transferred €10,000 in party funds to his personal account in 2025. He returned the money only after questions were raised about the transfers, LRT reported.

The commission’s findings followed an independent audit of the party’s finances. The auditor flagged potentially unlawful movement of funds and significant discrepancies in the party’s financial records, as well as concerns about payments to members and unsupported or incorrect information in its reports.

The party had received about €14,000 in support from personal income tax payments through the State Tax Inspectorate. The auditor found that €10,000 of this sum was transferred to Nemunaitis in five payments marked “advance”: €500 on September 2, €4,000 on September 12, €500 on October 17, €4,000 on December 18 and €1,000 on December 31.

Nemunaitis told the commission the money was intended to cover anticipated party expenses and said the debt would be repaid. Less than a week after his explanation, the commission received proof that the full €10,000 had been returned to the party’s account.

The commission said the money had been used for Nemunaitis’s personal purposes for eight months and was repaid only after the auditor questioned the transfers. It also noted that the party’s financial report contained significantly misleading figures unsupported by primary accounting documents. The party acknowledged that its accounting and document management in 2025 had not met standards for orderly and consistent record-keeping.

Nemunaitis told the commission he accepted that a mistake had been made and pledged not to repeat it. The commission found that the party had breached the Law on Financial Accounting and had seriously violated the Law on Political Organisations by knowingly submitting false information in its financial statements.

The commission instructed Nemunaitis to ensure that party expenses are paid from the organisation’s current bank account, directly to service providers and supported by accounting documents. It also said all business transactions must be backed by accounting records.
