Havanski’s play explores the urge to escape from everyday life
A new play about the need to escape will premiere on Friday at Tartu New Theatre, ERR reports. Directed by Kirill Havanski, “Where do I go when there is nowhere left to go?” portrays people who feel isolated and out of place in everyday life.
They long for change but do not know where to begin, and dream of fleeing to somewhere they would not have to take a position on everything at once, where their worries and rules would not follow them.
Havanski said the play also explores the inner tension between two opposing feelings: the desire to come together and the urge to withdraw from the world and its noise, reaching a place of complete silence.
The cast includes Tartu New Theatre company members Elise Metsanurk, Ilo-Ann Saarepera, Grete Jürgenson and Juhan Soon, with guest performer Germo Toonikus. Riin Maide is the set designer, Péter Kollányi the video artist, Dominik Hisslinger the sound designer and Oskar Harding the lighting designer.
