Lithuania’s military has begun installing mobile, medium-range AN/TPS-77 MRR radars made by US company Lockheed Martin, LRT reported, citing the Ministry of National Defence.

The ministry said the radars would strengthen Lithuania’s airspace surveillance capabilities and be integrated into NATO’s air and missile defence system.

“These radars have been delivered to Lithuania, and our military is already installing them. We will sign additional contracts this year as we continue to strengthen both the detection and neutralisation of aerial threats,” Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said.

The radars will provide real-time data to NATO’s integrated air and missile defence system, contribute to the Alliance’s shared air picture and improve cooperation between Lithuania and its allies.
