Katariin Mudist and Keithy Kuuspu’s exhibition “You Have Been Selected This Time” opened on October 9 at Tallinn City Gallery, ERR reported. The show explores the fleeting, bittersweet nature of recognition and praise in the art world and society.

The exhibition received last year’s Estonian Cultural Endowment grand prize in the visual and applied arts category. It considers how awards can affirm the legitimacy and worth of individuals or organisations, while also encouraging competition, comparison and a focus on performance.

Mudist and Kuuspu share an interest in self-irony and social criticism, often using performative approaches to materials and conceptual solutions. Their first collaboration included a performance by Kuuspu at the opening of Mudist’s exhibition “Slugs Like Us” at HOP Gallery. They later worked together on “Unfortunately, You Were Not Selected This Time,” which included a performance-based awards ceremony at Tartu Art House. Most recently, they staged the 2026 Köler Prize gala at EKKM.

Mudist has a master’s degree in contemporary art from the Estonian Academy of Arts. Kuuspu works across performing arts, choreography and visual art, and has completed master’s studies in contemporary performing arts and ceramics.

The exhibition is open until November 29.
