Jupiter streams Brigitte Bardot drama ahead of Artis retrospective

ERR’s Culture Portal recommends Brigitte Bardot’s 1962 romantic drama “A Private Life,” which is available on the Jupiter streaming platform. The film is one of several titles Jupiter is offering alongside a retrospective of Bardot’s work starting next week at Artis cinema.

The film partly echoes Bardot’s own life, including her status as a sex symbol, her relationships and intense media attention. It follows Jill, a young woman from the French upper class who dates her ballet teacher while harbouring unrequited love for Fabio Rinaldi, a married theatre director.

Jill later becomes a world-famous actress and sex symbol. When she meets Fabio again, both find themselves in the grip of public attention.

The film is considered one of Bardot’s best-known works. Her co-star was film icon Marcello Mastroianni. The Artis retrospective will show only a small part of Bardot’s extensive filmography.
