Nausėda to address UN General Assembly in New York

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda will visit the United States from September 21 to 25 to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, LRT reported.

On September 22, Nausėda will address world leaders at the General Assembly for the eighth time. His speech will focus mainly on global conflicts, the threats posed by artificial intelligence and historical memory, according to a press release.

During the visit, Nausėda will also speak at the sixth summit of the International Crimea Platform. His schedule includes a meeting with the presidents of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland, as well as a meeting of the Baltic leaders with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The president will attend an annual reception hosted by US President Donald Trump for heads of state, along with various bilateral meetings. He is also expected to open a Lithuania-US business forum focused on resilience.

Nausėda will be accompanied by First Lady Diana Nausėdienė. In New York, she will take part in a high-level event organised together with Ukraine’s first lady and an event organised by Turkey’s first lady on creating a safe digital environment for children.

At the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump, Nausėdienė will also attend an event organised by the global coalition Building the Future Together.
