LSM’s programme Krustpunktā held a debate on Monday with the prime ministerial candidates of three political forces contesting Latvia’s upcoming parliamentary elections, LSM reports.

The participants were Andris Šuvajevs, the Progressives party’s candidate for prime minister; Arvils Ašeradens, the candidate of the New Unity party alliance; and Jūlija Stepaņenko, the candidate of the Sovereign Power/Young Latvians electoral list.

Krustpunktā is organising debates on the candidates’ visions and plans for the next parliamentary term. Candidates from electoral lists whose political forces exceeded the 2 percent threshold in the latest poll and whose names appear on candidate lists have been invited to participate.

The elections for Latvia’s 15th Saeima will take place on Saturday, October 3. Polling stations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and voters will be able to cast their ballots at any polling station.

Early ballot storage will be available at all polling stations in Latvia from September 28 until election day. The newly elected 15th Saeima will hold its first sitting on November 3, when the mandate of the 14th Saeima will end.
