Kristo Enn Vaga leaves hospital after televised health emergency

Kristo Enn Vaga, a member of Estonia’s parliament and secretary-general of the Reform Party, was allowed to return home overnight after further medical examinations, ERR reported.

Vaga suffered a health emergency during the live television programme Esimene stuudio on Wednesday evening and was taken to the emergency department by ambulance for examination.

Reform Party spokesperson Sander Andla told ERR on Thursday morning that Vaga was discharged after the tests. He asked the media to be discreet when reporting on Vaga’s health.

Prime Minister Kristen Michal wrote on social media that Vaga had appeared visibly unwell on television. He said Vaga had received help from Mihhail Kõlvart and Andres Kuusk, as well as from people working behind the scenes, ambulance staff and doctors.

“Kristo got home to his family during the night, and we hope everything will be all right,” Michal wrote, thanking everyone who had helped him.

Michal also criticised people who had posted offensive comments about Vaga online. He said Vaga was a long-serving member of the parliament’s National Defence Committee and had extensive knowledge of defence issues.

Michal added that Vaga had cycled 1,700 kilometres from Tallinn to Kyiv in 2024 in support of Ukraine.
