Three accused of stealing payment card and spending over 11000 euros

Three people will stand trial for allegedly stealing a woman’s payment card in Raseiniai district and using it to spend more than 11000 euros, LRT reported, citing the Kaunas District Court’s Kaunas Chamber.

According to the indictment, two men allegedly went to the victim’s home in May 2025. While one questioned the woman about whether she was selling a car parked in the yard, the other allegedly entered the house and took a payment card from her wallet. The card and its PIN were later allegedly passed to two other defendants.

Investigators say the defendants acted as a group, using the card to pay at shops and withdraw cash. The transactions were allegedly made in Kaunas, Kaunas district, Vilnius and Klaipėda, either by entering the PIN or using contactless payments.

All three are accused of fraud, unlawful access to an information system, unlawful possession of an electronic payment instrument and its data, and unlawful use of an electronic payment instrument or its data.

The defendants have previous convictions. Two have been recognised as recidivists, while one is currently serving a prison sentence.
