Ceramics union brings sound to Rakvere exhibition

The Estonian Ceramists Union has opened its annual exhibition Silent Resonance at the Ukuaru Music House, a music venue dedicated to Arvo Pärt in Rakvere, ERR reported. The exhibition will be open until the end of October.

The exhibition features works by more than 40 artists. Because the gallery is located in a music house, visitors can also produce sounds with some of the works.

Curator and ceramic artist Cristopher Siniväli said the exhibition was interesting to assemble because the union’s members work across a broad range of fields, from applied arts to contemporary art. The participants include hobby ceramicists, professional artists and current students.

Unlike ceramics displayed on pedestals or in glass cases, many of the works in this exhibition can be touched and used to create sound. Several were made specifically for the exhibition, Siniväli said.
