Heavy rain floods streets and strains Pärnu drainage system

Heavy overnight rain has caused flooding and disrupted drainage services in Pärnu, ERR reported. By 8 a.m., as much as 95 millimetres of rain had fallen in Pärnu County.

The rainfall has heavily overloaded Pärnu’s drainage system, which is operating at full capacity, the Pärnu city government said at about 8.30 a.m.

Both stormwater drainage and sewerage services have been disrupted. In several places, accumulated water has made roads difficult to pass.

The city government urged people to exercise caution and avoid flooded sections of road. The city and service providers are working to resolve the situation.
