Rain forecast across Lithuania as temperatures reach 23 C

Rain is expected across much of Lithuania on Thursday, with temperatures rising to 18–23 C, LRT Radio reports, citing forecaster Simona Dalinkevičiūtė of the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

The rain will be short-lived and intermittent. Western districts will receive more rain, while the eastern part of the country will see longer breaks and lower rainfall totals. Rain clouds may not reach the southeastern edge of Lithuania.

The day will be mostly cloudy, with more sunny spells expected in southeastern Lithuania. Winds will be fairly strong from the southwest, with gusts of up to 15 metres per second on the coast. Thunderstorms are possible in some areas.

Friday will also be rainy as another atmospheric front reaches the western part of the country overnight. Skies will be overcast across most of Lithuania, with short showers in many areas, locally heavy, and possible thunderstorms. Strong southwesterly to westerly winds will continue, with coastal gusts of 15–18 metres per second.

Temperatures will fall to 11–16 C overnight on Friday and reach 17–22 C during the day. Rain clouds will again cover most of the country, with more rain expected in western districts. Winds will turn southwesterly to southerly, with gusts of 15–16 metres per second near the coast.

Rain will continue on Saturday and will be heavy in some places. Intermittent showers are expected across much of the country, with fairly strong southwesterly to westerly winds. Gusts could reach 15–20 metres per second, particularly during the day. Temperatures will range from 11–16 C at night to 16–21 C during the day.

Sunday will remain rainy, although the rain will be light during the day. Winds will also remain strong, reaching up to 18 metres per second in some areas. Temperatures will drop to 9–14 C overnight and rise to 16–21 C during the day.

A higher-pressure system is expected to bring several drier days next week.
