The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania-Christian Families Alliance (LLRA-KŠS) plans to nominate Waldemar Urban for mayor of Vilnius district municipality in the 2027 elections, LRT reported, citing party leader Waldemar Tomaszewski.
Tomaszewski said the party had not yet officially nominated its mayoral candidates, but generally intended to re-nominate candidates in municipalities where they received at least as many votes in 2023 as in 2019.
Those municipalities are Vilnius, Vilnius district, Šalčininkai district and Trakai district. Urban received more than 20,000 votes in Vilnius district on March 5, 2023, matching his 2019 result, Tomaszewski said.
In the 2023 municipal council and mayoral elections, Tomaszewski himself ran for mayor of Vilnius. Jaroslav Narkevičius was the party’s candidate in Trakai district, while Zdzislav Palevičius sought the mayor’s post in Šalčininkai district.
LLRA-KŠS currently holds a majority in the Vilnius district council, with 18 of its 31 seats. The Social Democrats hold seven seats and the Centre-Right Coalition has six.
Urban lost the 2023 Vilnius district mayoral election to Social Democratic Party candidate Robert Duchnevičius in the second round.
