Estonia will bid farewell to former prime minister Siim Kallas with state honours on Saturday, ERR reports. ETV’s live broadcast from the Estonia Concert Hall will begin at 12.45 and will also be available on the ERR website.

President Alar Karis, Prime Minister Kristen Michal, Bank of Estonia Governor Ülo Kaasik, former European Commission Commissioner Olli Rehn and cultural figure Arne Mikk will speak at the ceremony. The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will provide the music. Reimo Sildvee will commentate on the broadcast.

Kallas died on August 22 at the age of 77. He served as Estonia’s prime minister, foreign and finance minister, president of the Bank of Estonia, vice-president of the European Commission and a member of parliament several times.

He was one of the authors of the Self-Sustaining Estonia proposal, a leader of the 1992 currency reform and a founder of the Reform Party.
