ERR to broadcast Estonia’s presidential election across all platforms

ERR will cover Estonia’s presidential election with interviews, preview programmes and live broadcasts on television, radio and its news portal, the public broadcaster said.

Before the election, ERR will interview presidential candidate Ülle Madise. ETV will air the interview on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in a special edition of “Esimene stuudio”, hosted by Andres Kuusk. ETV2 will show the programme with an Estonian Sign Language interpreter.

ETV+ will broadcast its interview with Madise on September 1 at 8.30 p.m. in “Nädala intervjuu”, hosted by Tatjana Gassova. Radio 4 will air the interview on September 2 at 11.05 a.m. Vikerraadio has also conducted an extended interview with Madise, hosted by Arp Müller, which is available on the station’s website and in the Eesti Raadio app.

The opening programme of the new season of “Impulss” on September 1 will also focus on the presidential election.

Television, radio and the ERR news portal will broadcast the election live on September 2 and, if necessary, on the following days.

ETV and Vikerraadio will connect to the Riigikogu, Estonia’s parliament, at 11.50 a.m. on September 2. Hosts Liisu Lass and Mirko Ojakivi, together with reporter Taavi Eilat, will cover the proceedings and the views of people attending. ETV2 will provide the live broadcast with an Estonian Sign Language interpreter.

“Terevisioon” will also be broadcast from the Riigikogu that morning.

ETV+ will begin its live coverage at 11.55 a.m., with Julia Bali hosting from an on-site studio and Konstantin Sviridovski reporting. Its evening programme “Epitsenter”, at 8.30 p.m., will also be dedicated to the election.

Radio 4 will air election-focused programming in “Üksikasjad” from 11.05 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 2 and 3.

Election-related news, interviews and programmes published on ERR channels will be collected on a dedicated section of the broadcaster’s news portal.

A week before the election, ERR.ee also began a series of articles examining previous presidential elections. The first article covered the 1992 election and the second focused on 1996. The series features key figures who were involved in the events at the time.

The ERR council has approved the rules for covering Estonia’s 2026 presidential election on Estonian Public Broadcasting.
