Dolly Parton dies at 80 after six decades in the spotlight

US country music singer Dolly Parton died on Tuesday aged 80, ERR reported, citing a statement from her family.
Parton was a country singer, songwriter and actress whose charisma, heartfelt lyrics and business acumen captivated the public for almost six decades.
She wrote more than 3,000 songs and won 11 Grammy Awards, including a lifetime achievement award. Her best-known songs included “Coat of Many Colors,” “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.”
Parton became one of the best-selling female artists of all time, selling more than 100 million records. She also hosted a television entertainment show, acted in films and founded Dollywood, a theme park and popular tourist destination in her birthplace of Tennessee.
She was also involved in charity work. Through her Imagination Library foundation, Parton distributed hundreds of millions of free books to children around the world to promote early literacy.
