Kaamos opens 25,000-euro grant to artists over 60

Kaamos has opened applications for its 25,000-euro arts grant for artists over 60, ERR reported.

The grant, awarded in cooperation with the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art, is open to candidates until September 28. Artists may apply themselves, or be nominated by a person working in the art field or by an art institution.

Last year, when the grant was awarded for the first time, its focus was on women artists. Kaamos said the focus group will change each year to draw attention to different groups in Estonia’s art field and their work, while keeping the grant diverse and evolving.

The recipient will be selected by a jury comprising Kumu curator Eha Komissarov, Tartu Art House director and chair of the Tartu Artists’ Union Peeter Talvistu, artist and artist’s salary recipient Marge Monko, one representative of the Estonian Centre for Contemporary Art and two representatives of Kaamos Group. Part of the jury changes every two years.

Anna Mari Liivrand received the first Kaamos grant last year. She said the funding had allowed her to devote herself fully to larger, more enduring and smaller exhibition projects and create more extensive and exciting works.
