Frederik Küüts says three concerts leave him in soft delirium

Musician Frederik Küüts told ERR’s Ringvaade programme that performing three concerts in one day leaves him in “soft delirium” after the final show. He said he has nearly 66 concerts scheduled over three months, with some days involving three performances.

“It has been great this summer to see that we have not had a single concert with Sadu where we did not matter to anyone. By now, we seem to prove ourselves during the concert, and people like it,” Küüts said.

He said Sadu and Nublu were entirely different projects, praising Nublu as one of Estonia’s best songwriters. Küüts also named Vaiko Eplik as one of his two favourite Estonian songwriters and said he was grateful to have made music with both of them.

Küüts said he follows a five-hour rule when writing songs. “I work on one song for that long, and if after five hours I do not feel that I have managed to ignite something in myself, I gently put the song aside or move on to something new,” he said.

Although he enjoys his work, Küüts said the constant logistics, lack of sleep and emotional intensity were challenging. He said he was tired from the summer’s activity and was looking forward to shifting his main focus back to the studio, where he believes many songs are still waiting to be completed.

“We have also talked in the team about how we will one day tell our children about this summer,” Küüts said. He added that the team was working to reach the end of the summer without anyone burning out, but that a break would be needed afterwards.
