Simple Session will bring BMX street riding and daring tricks to city streets in Tallinn and Riga this year, ERR reported. Event director Risto Kalmre said the disciplines are growing in popularity, but more young people could still take an interest in extreme sports.
The main event will take place on August 19 at Balta Hoov, near Balti Jaam market in Tallinn. Organisers will build the riding features there, and the event will be free to attend from around 2 or 3 p.m. until the evening.
On August 20, riders will perform tricks at locations around the city. The organisers have not yet disclosed where the street events will take place and have urged people to follow Simple Session on social media.
Four Estonians are currently on the rider list, which includes athletes from 17 countries. Kalmre said the organisers invite some participants, while also allowing riders to put themselves forward. He added that local riders are always preferred.
“There are young people, but there could always be more,” Kalmre said. He said extreme sports were on an upward trend, although difficult times had prompted the organisers to experiment with different formats instead of holding the event at Unibet Arena, where 8,000 spectators would have to fill the hall.
