Lithuania nears July rainfall record in first week

Lithuania has already recorded nearly its entire average July rainfall in the first week of the month, according to the country’s hydrometeorological service, as reported by LRT.

The service stated that an average of 53 mm of precipitation fell across the country, accounting for 63% of the typical July total. Some regions, including Kazlų Rūda (85.5 mm), Šakiai (83.5 mm), Vėžaičiai, Pagėgiai (83.1 mm each), and Rietavas (82.7 mm), saw the highest rainfall. The driest areas were in the northeast, with Biržai receiving 19.8 mm, Rokiškis 22.3 mm, Zarasai 24.4 mm, Pakruojis 25.2 mm, and Raseiniai 27.7 mm.

The forecast predicts no immediate end to the rain, with an additional 20–50 mm expected in the coming days, particularly in southern and western Lithuania. The service confirmed that the first half of July this year is already wetter than average.
