Police officer drowns in Kretinga district

A police officer drowned in the Kretinga district on Sunday, according to a report by LRT.

The incident occurred at around 16:45 in a water quarry near Kartenai, where the officer, born in 1992 and serving in the Klaipėda County Chief Police Commissariat, was swimming during his off-duty time. His body has not yet been recovered.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched, and search efforts for the officer’s body are ongoing, the Police Department stated.
