Lithuania braces for summer heat with temperatures reaching 30 degrees

Lithuania is set for a spell of summer warmth, with temperatures expected to climb as high as 30°C in some areas, according to a forecast by the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service reported by LRT.

Monday morning saw light rain in central and eastern regions, but the day will remain dry and summery, with no further precipitation expected. Cloud cover will be minimal, and winds will strengthen to moderate levels. Daytime temperatures are forecast to rise to 22–27°C, with northern regions possibly hitting 30°C. The Curonian Spit will be slightly cooler, with temperatures between 19–21°C.

The pleasant warmth is expected to last until the weekend. Tuesday night will be clear and dry, with temperatures dropping to 10–15°C. The following day will also stay dry, though cumulus clouds may form in the afternoon, bringing brief and light showers. Temperatures will again reach 22–27°C, with coastal areas seeing 19–21°C.

Midsummer (Joninės) will begin dry for most of the country, though a short spell of rain is likely in the northwest during the second half of Tuesday night. Midsummer’s Day itself will be wetter, with scattered showers possible across many regions after noon, and thunderstorms may occur in some areas. Nighttime temperatures will range from 11–16°C, while daytime highs will be 21–26°C.

Rain is expected in some areas on Wednesday night and in many regions during the day on Thursday. Nighttime temperatures will fluctuate between 11–16°C, with daytime highs reaching 27°C. From Friday, a high-pressure system will strengthen, bringing dry weather for the weekend.
