Lithuanian military continues search for drones detected by radar
The Lithuanian armed forces are continuing their search for drones detected by radar over the country, state broadcaster LRT reported on Friday.
Search operations are focused in the districts of Panevėžys and Utena, involving the military police, land forces, and the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union. Authorities are conducting door-to-door inquiries, deploying unmanned aerial vehicles, and using light aircraft for reconnaissance.
Residents who encounter suspicious objects are urged not to approach, touch, move, or attempt to disassemble them. Instead, they should immediately report findings to emergency services by calling 112. The public is also advised not to photograph or share images of any discovered objects or their locations on social media, and to rely only on official updates.
On Thursday, an air alert lasting over an hour was declared in Utena district after two drones were suspected of entering Lithuanian airspace. The objects later disappeared from radar, with officials suggesting they either crashed or exited the country. A similar alert had been issued in parts of Lithuania the previous day.
Recent weeks have seen comparable incidents reported in other Baltic states and Finland.
