Kushner meets Hamas leaders in Egypt over Gaza plan

US envoy Jared Kushner met Hamas leaders in Egypt on Sunday to discuss implementing a peace plan for the Gaza Strip that Israel has rejected, LRT reports, citing sources who spoke to AFP.

Hamas reiterated its commitment to the agreement during the meeting, while Kushner urged the group to take firm disarmament measures and give up any future role in governing the Gaza Strip, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

Kushner, who is US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, had earlier discussed the US plan for Gaza with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

The meeting came hours after Khalil El-Hayya, head of Hamas’s political bureau, met with Egypt’s intelligence chief.
