Lithuania’s research council launches selection for national broadcaster’s governing board members
The Lithuanian Research Council has announced an open selection process for candidates to join the governing board of Lithuania’s national broadcaster LRT, the council said in a statement on Sunday.
The 12-member LRT board is the broadcaster’s highest decision-making body, representing public interests for a six-year term. Members are appointed by the president, parliament, and designated institutions, including the Research Council, the Education Council, the Lithuanian Creators’ Association, and the Lithuanian Bishops’ Conference.
The Research Council’s appointee will be chosen through a competitive process, evaluating candidates’ compliance with legal requirements, their preparedness for the role, and proposals on how to address the council’s expectations for LRT’s operations.
The LRT board works alongside the broadcaster’s director-general as one of its two governing bodies.
