A woman in Vilnius has reported losing €148,000 to a man she met on TikTok, after he allegedly tricked her into revealing her online banking credentials, Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) reported on Saturday.

The 55-year-old victim told police she had communicated with the man for several months through the social media platform before he deceived her into disclosing her electronic banking login details. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation under Article 182 of Lithuania’s Criminal Code, which covers large-scale fraud.

Under the law, fraud involving high-value assets, property rights, or the evasion of significant financial obligations—particularly when committed as part of an organised scheme—can result in fines or imprisonment of up to eight years.
