Firefighters respond to blaze in Vilnius apartment building

Firefighters were called to a blaze in a multi-storey apartment building in the Pašilaičiai district of Vilnius on Friday evening.

The Vilnius Fire and Rescue Department received the alert at 20:47, reporting smoke coming from a fifth-floor flat in a nine-storey building on Ukmergės Street 30a. Fire crews conducted an assessment and by 21:00 the flat’s occupant had opened the door.

Initial reports indicated that an object on the balcony had been burning. No injuries have been reported and investigators are continuing to examine the scene.
