Estonia’s parliamentary Finance Committee failed to hold two extraordinary meetings on Friday because it lacked a quorum, ERR reported.
Five of the committee’s 10 members attended the meeting scheduled for noon. All five were coalition members; the five opposition members were absent. Six members are needed for a quorum.
Committee chair Annely Akkermann then called another extraordinary meeting for 1 p.m. to discuss 95 amendments to the government’s 2027 state budget bill ahead of its second reading. Coalition members attended, but opposition members again did not, and the meeting could not proceed.
The amendments will now be discussed at the committee’s regular meeting on Monday.
