Six new choral works inspired by composer Lembit Veevo will premiere at concerts in Tallinn and Tartu on November 14 and 15, ERR reports. The events will mark the 100th anniversary of Veevo’s birth and celebrate his musical legacy.

The Estonian Chamber Choirs Association invited contemporary composers to reinterpret Veevo’s music and create new works inspired by it. Instead of a traditional anniversary concert, the association organised a creative laboratory pairing six selected composers with member choirs to develop the pieces together in rehearsals.

The resulting works, described as paraphrases, will be performed alongside Veevo’s music. The participating composers are Pille-Riin Tipp, Katrin Aller, Martin Kirsiste, Karl Tipp, Emilie Ruus and Erki Meister.

The concerts will feature chamber women’s choir Sireen, Chamber Choir Kolm Lindu, Nuku Choir, Mixed Choir Noorus, Chamber Choir Crede and the Estonian Academy of Arts Chamber Choir.
