Estonian singer and songwriter Hedvig Hanson has published Kui pikk on olevik?, a collection of her articles and essays from 2016 to 2026, ERR reports.
Hanson said she had been writing since her school years, when she kept a diary and developed a strong interest in literature. She began writing for the press at 27, initially focusing on music and musicians before turning increasingly to personal reflections and observations about life.
“I have been writing almost as long as I have been singing,” Hanson said. She described writing as a welcome change from making music and an activity that suited her settled nature, offering the chance to take time and explore ideas in depth.
The collection explores home and human relationships, as well as the importance of nature, ancestors and culture in Hanson’s life and work. She also draws on conversations with people she has met by chance on streets, country roads and trains, and at a skating rink with children. Hanson said these encounters had inspired her and revealed interesting aspects of human psychology.
The book was published by Rahva Raamatu Kirjastus.
