ERR will livestream a librarians’ professional day on what prevents adults from learning, taking place on November 6 at Tallinn’s Südalinna Library. The event will focus on learning confidence, personal development, future skills and adult education opportunities.
The livestream on ERR’s culture portal will begin at 10:30. Education psychologist Grete Arro will discuss learning in adulthood, while work happiness researcher Tiina Saar-Veelmaa will explore the link between personal development and workplace well-being. Representatives of ETKA Andras will also share their knowledge and experience.
The day’s main event is a panel discussion titled “I don’t know how… yet!” Participants will consider which skills will be needed in the future, what stops adults from learning and how to build confidence in learning. The panel will include Eneli Kindsiko, an expert at the Development Monitoring Centre; Ulla Saar, a board member of the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund; civic activist Tarmo Jüristo; Kaie Holm, director of Tallinn Libraries; and Carmen Ott, the 2026 Learner of the Year. Margo Loor will moderate.
The annual professional day is dedicated to Aleksander Sibul, who led Tallinn City Library from 1921 to 1950 and helped lay the foundations for the development of Estonian librarianship. This year marks the event’s 20th edition.
The programme includes Arro’s talk from 10:35 to 11:20, Saar-Veelmaa’s talk from 11:20 to 12:10, and a session by ETKA Andras from 12:10 to 12:30. The panel discussion is scheduled for 13:30 to 15:15.
