Tallinn Airport handled nearly 375,000 passengers in October, 7.5% more than in the same month last year and the highest October total in its history, ERR reported. The previous record, set in 2025, was surpassed by 26,000 passengers.
In the first 10 months of the year, the airport served 3.27 million passengers, an 11% increase on the same period last year. Wizz Air contributed most to the growth after expanding its Tallinn operations over the past year. In October, it flew to eight destinations and carried 15% of the airport’s passengers. Air Baltic remained the largest airline, with a 23% market share.
A total of 24 airlines operated scheduled and charter flights from Tallinn to 55 destinations in October. Scheduled flights accounted for 87% of passengers, with charter flights making up the remaining 13%. Charter passengers mainly travelled to Turkey, Egypt and Greece, as well as, in smaller numbers, Italy, Tunisia, Cyprus and Montenegro.
Warsaw was the most popular direct route on scheduled flights, followed by Helsinki, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Riga. The number of flight operations rose 2.2% from October last year, with 3,955 landings and take-offs, or an average of 128 a day.
“This year’s summer season was marked by a wider choice of destinations than before. New connections and increased capacity from airlines gave passengers more options and supported growth in passenger numbers. October’s result is a good summary of a strong summer season,” said Eero Pärgmäe, a member of the management board of Tallinn Airport. He said flight volumes and destination choices typically change in the winter season.
Passenger numbers also rose at all of Estonia’s regional airports. Together, they served 9,523 passengers in October, compared with 8,614 a year earlier. Tartu Airport handled 5,044 passengers, exceeding 5,000 in a single month for the first time and setting a monthly record. Kuressaare Airport served 3,112 passengers, Kärdla Airport 1,038, Pärnu Airport 137 and Ruhnu airfield 192. Seasonal scheduled flights from Ruhnu to Pärnu and Kuressaare also resumed in October.
Flight capacity this winter is forecast to average 9% less than last winter, reflecting airlines’ route network adjustments and higher fuel prices. Scheduled destinations from Tallinn include Amsterdam, Antalya, Barcelona, Birmingham, Brussels, Budapest, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Funchal, Gdańsk, Geneva, Helsinki, Istanbul, Copenhagen, Kraków, Kuressaare, Kärdla, Leeds, London, Málaga, Manchester, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Riga, Rome, Salzburg, Stockholm, Tenerife, Warsaw, Venice, Vienna, Vilnius and Zurich. Charter flights are scheduled to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
