A fire at an unmaintained building on Tvaika Street in Riga’s Sarkandaugava neighbourhood has closed part of the street and disrupted public transport, LSM reported Monday.

The State Fire and Rescue Service received the call shortly after 5 a.m. Firefighters are at the scene with eight fire engines and several aerial ladders. Drivers have been urged to use other routes, including Aptiekas Street.

Because of the fire at Tvaika Street 4, trolleybus route 3 towards Kundziņsala and bus route 49 towards Daudersala are not running on those sections. Both routes currently run only as far as the Sarkandaugava terminus.
