The Estonian History Museum has opened an exhibition on the history of Estonia’s porcelain industry at Maarjamäe Castle, a castle housing the museum. The exhibition, titled “White Gold: The Story of Estonian Porcelain,” was reported by ERR.

Curated by Anne Ruussaar, it features more than 700 rare objects, dating from the 18th century to the present. The exhibition covers the main companies in the industry and the artists and craftspeople who worked for them. It also examines decoration techniques and the marks and signatures used on porcelain in Estonia.

Objects on display come from museums in Estonia and Latvia, as well as private collections. Some are being shown publicly for the first time. The exhibition explores how porcelain, a material originating abroad, found its way into Estonian homes and became familiar.

“White Gold” is open at Maarjamäe Castle until March 27, 2027.
