Musician Ollie says he wants to enjoy the Eesti Laul process more this year and has chosen a vocally gentler song for the competition, ERR reports.
This will be his fourth time taking part in Eesti Laul. Asked whether he would continue competing until he earns the long-awaited chance to represent Estonia at Eurovision, Ollie said: “Life has brought me here now, and as long as it keeps bringing me here, I’ll keep performing here.”
His entry, “Sad Every Day”, was written too late to feature on his debut album, “If Demons Are Real, So Are Angels”, which came out last week. Ollie said the song is about feeling your joy in life gradually disappear and seeing yourself become someone you never wanted to be.
He said feelings like these come and go, adding that he would like to spend more time engaged with life rather than lost in his thoughts. He has realised he is not the only person whose mind can sometimes make it difficult to feel happy, even when things are going well.
Ollie described “Sad Every Day” as gentler than his previous competition songs, though it also has some intensity. Its more comfortable vocal demands, he said, could help him avoid the tension he has felt on stage and enjoy the experience more.
